About Me:
I am a person who constantly observes the world around me, and I desire the ability to learn the skills that will empower me to create value in it. In college, I would be able to fulfill that desire, as well as the ability to contribute towards success in my chosen career pathway. When I am faced with a challenge, I strive to move past it and learn from it, rather than remaining stagnant.
I am both a leader and a team player. I can work as a collaborator with my peers to create something greater than us as individuals. I can also take on leading positions to guide those around me. When I do take up leadership positions, I allow the voices of my team to continue to be heard. I wish to grow and be given a chance to interact with people who are as passionate about making a change in the world as I am. I want the resources available to become that change and to build on my cultural capital. In order to do so, I must go past the borders of high school and towards enriching institutions that will continue to stimulate my intellectual life and learning.
I've practiced in Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form, since first grade, as a seven year old. I participated in Bharatanatyam classes, shows, and dance competitions. I stopped participating in Bharatanatyam dance classes in fifth grade, and went on to practice Bollywood dance until seventh grade. I have continued to use my skills in dance at church, where we often have cultural programs in which there are dance performances and sometimes even dance competitions.
I have a First Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, recognized by the World Taekwondo Foundation. I received it in January of 2022, after practicing taekwondo for 7 years at Iron Fist Martial Arts. I trained rigorously for 4-6 hours per week, to pass the 8-hour black belt exam, a test of endurance, technique, and persistence.
I have been drawing since childhood. It is a passion and hobby of mine, one which I have consistently built upon. I used to attend an art studio regularly, from kindergarten till ninth grade. I also participated in several art competitions, and attended AP Studio Art in eleventh grade to integrate my own interests with my academic life. I have added some of my art pieces above!
